Our hot air balloon flights launch site in North Hampshire near Hartley Wintney is regularly cut to keep the grass short for our balloon ride passengers. But this year instead of just cutting it with a mower, we let it grow longer and managed to get a reasonable cut of hay off it earlier in the summer to be used as animal feed. Now in the autumn some sheep have been brought in to tidy it up. Sheep are very good grazers and nibble the grass and any weeds down, leaving behind some excellent fertilizer! So to make sure no one treads in it on our remaining balloon flights this season we have rolled it and given it a fine cut so that the trimmings cover things up. It took the sheep just two days to polish of this field but then there were over 300 of them!
